Let me tell you about the Stephen Raichlen Best of Barbecue grill grate oiler. This product is designed to allow you to put a thin layer of oil on your grill surface so your food doesn’t stick. It can be used on a charcoal or gas grill, either if it’s cold, or it’s hot and ready to cook. I would recommend using a glove if it is very hot though.

Let me tell you about the parts. This is a cover to keep the oiling surface clean and free of dirt. This is the brush surface that is made of silicone so it takes the heat the grill; once we open it up you can see this is where the oil is gonna come from as you depress it onto the grill surface. Here’s the bottle, and then the main brush body. Now all these parts are dishwasher safe, so when you’re done with your grilling session, you can just pop them in the dishwasher and be ready to start again. I’m going to fill it up and show you how to use it. You’re gonna pop the oil bottle out; now before you fill it, you want to make sure that this yellow cap is depressed so the oil doesn’t leak out of the bottom. I’m going to fill it with canola oil today, which has a higher smoke point than some other oils, so it can be better in this application but you could definitely use olive oil. I’m going to pop that in place. Before we start oiling, I want to just pop this vent open so the oil flows out. Press it down and count to one, one or two seconds — now the oil’s flying, you can see it dripping. I wanna rock it back and forth to make sure it’s distributed between all those holes. And that’s all there is to it. When we’re done for the session we’re gonna pop that closed and rest it here in the tray and leave it there because I’m probably gonna come back and wanna oil a few more times as I’m grilling to make sure the food doesn’t stick. Happy grilling.
