Guide to Grilling: Five Meals You Can Easily Make On Grill Sheets
Grill sheets have surged in popularity recently thanks to how easy it is to use them. You simply get your grill fired up and throw the sheets on your grates. Just like that, you’ve got a grilling surface ready to hold all kinds of food. These sheets come in several shapes and sizes — here at The Companion Group, our Charcoal Companion® brand includes the FLEX Grill Sheets™, which come in rectangles, squares, and circles. Available at major retailers and on Amazon.
But if you’ve been grilling directly on grates and are wondering what all the fuss is about, we hear you. We did some experimenting ourselves before we released the FLEX Grill Sheets™. There are countless meals to make on these versatile sheets, but here are some of our favorites!
- Breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs and bacon. Breakfast on the grill is an underrated gem. There’s nothing quite like walking out onto the deck or patio on a Sunday morning and firing up the grill. Grill sheets are an easy way to prepare breakfast. Break an egg directly on the grill sheet and watch it sizzle. Slice an english muffin in half and place it on the other side of the grill sheet to toast it, then make some room to get your bacon crispy. You’re well on your way to a delicious breakfast sandwich!
- There are some great pizza ovens out there. We should know — we make some of them! But if you’ve never made pizza at home before and aren’t ready to invest, the grill sheets are the perfect tool. Simply get your grill fired up and follow standard instructions for preparing pizza dough. Once the dough is ready, place it on the grill sheet. Remember that temperatures vary on grills, so check your pizza a few times to make sure the crust is coming along nicely.
- Salmon is one of those foods that can easily stick to grill grates if the grates aren’t properly oiled or if the fillet isn’t seasoned at all. With grill sheets, these concerns go away. Brush your favorite glaze on your salmon, throw it on a grill sheet, and easily remove it with a spatula when it’s ready.
- This quintessential grilled food is a natural fit for grill sheets. Whether you make your burger patties by hand or buy them from the store, they’ll cook nicely on a sheet. If you want, slice up some onions and mushrooms and toss them on one side of the grill sheet. In a few minutes, you’ve got a delicious topping for your burgers!
- Portabello mushrooms or stuffed bell peppers. This is the kind of appetizer that can be hard to place directly on the grill. There’s always the chance they’ll either get stuck to grill grates or end up sliding between them. Plus, if you like to stuff these generously, there’s the possibility that the stuffing could ooze out and end up falling through grates and causing a flare-up. Throwing a grill sheet on the grates will save a lot of trouble.
Grill sheets are so easy to use that they’re perfect for beginning grillers. But even if you’ve been around the block a few times, they’re a nice option on days when you want to whip something up quickly. Let us know if you’ve tried out these grill sheets and made any good meals on them!
